Good for Barry Bonds - Stay Off the Field
According to a recent espn report, Barry Bonds is not optimistic about playing agian this year. Good. Good for baseball, good for the Giants, and good for Barry Bonds. I can only hope that Barry got a clue that he is under suspicion for using steroids and he stopped using them - and that is why it is taking so long to recover, and he will be forced to retire. Or maybe he has been threatend by all sorts of parties interested in making sure he doesn't return. Unfortunately, it still sounds like his return is inevidable, if not this year - then next.
Bonds has already lost his credibility for his single season home run record by staying with Victor Conte, and everyone will hate Bonds even more if he breaks Aaron's coveted career home run record. He will be blamed for ruining the historical context of which baseball lays its foundation. The Giants, who already have chemistry problems, don't need a Bonds return to fuel the fire. Bonds would be best served if he just pulled up stakes and called it a career. He will still be looked at as one of the best outfielders ever. But if he breaks the record, he will be villified eternally.
Stay off the field Bonds. No baseball fan wants you back.
